HMC Products Redesigns Medical Test Kit Packaging Machine Saving Customer Millions

A medical test kit manufacturer wanted to package all test-kit components into a single dual-compartment pouch instead of separate pouches, improving production efficiency and user experience. The challenge was ensuring only one part per compartment, avoiding damage to vials containing sensitive chemicals, and maintaining speed and accuracy.

HMC Products designed a new Pouchmaster IM 8-10 based machine with three servo-driven components—film feeder, main shaft, and pouch transfer chain—plus a bowl feeder system that drops parts accurately into designated compartments. The integrated control solution handles up to 300 pouches per minute.

The new packaging solution saves the customer millions in packaging costs. The dual-compartment pouch system creates a simpler user experience and opens new possibilities for packaging a wide range of medical test kits efficiently.
