The Solution

Amatrol developed the Skill Boss Logistics system in collaboration with industry bodies including the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC), MHEDA, MHI, and NCSCA, as well as leading e-commerce and transportation companies. The solution combines interactive e-learning with a compact, hands-on training and assessment workstation built on a Rockwell Automation platform — specifically an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5370 controller, PowerFlex 525 AC drive, and EtherNet/IP network. The workstation replicates real distribution center operations, covering barcode tracking, sorting, gap optimization, and package recirculation. FactoryTalk View software drives the HMI, mirroring plant-floor interfaces. Instructors can inject over 45 real-world faults via Amatrol FaultPro software to build hands-on troubleshooting competency. Each of three certification tracks requires 150–200 hours of training.
